Apple Pay Express Mode has been available on Singapore’s MRT and LRT network since mid-August 2026, and the Land Transport Authority aims to extend it across the full public transport network by the end of 2027, Channel NewsAsia reported on 4 September 2026.
Express Mode lets commuters tap in and out with an iPhone or Apple Watch without waking or unlocking the device, and without Face ID, Touch ID or a passcode for each tap.
Where it works today
LTA confirmed the feature is live across MRT and LRT stations. On buses, Express Mode currently works only on vehicles fitted with enhanced card readers that are being rolled out across the fleet.
Those readers have larger displays, sharper visuals and faster SimplyGo transaction updates. Commuters can tap anywhere on the screen rather than at a single sensor spot.
What stays the same
SimplyGo fare rules still apply. Commuters using a mobile wallet should tap in and out with the same device and the same payment card so entry and exit pair correctly.
LTA said more details on the wider rollout will be shared when ready. The target for Express Mode across the entire public transport network remains the end of 2027.
