What’s Happening in Singapore This Week: Lyrids Meteor Shower, Capy Celebration & More (21-27 April 2026)

If you have been scrolling through your feed wondering what on earth to do this week in Singapore, we have got you sorted. The third week of April 2026 is packed with one-off experiences that you simply cannot recreate next month — from a meteor shower peaking in our skies to a month-long capybara celebration that has the whole island obsessed. Here is our guide to everything trending in Singapore between 21 and 27 April 2026, complete with where to go, how much it costs, and why you should bother turning up.

1. Lyrids Meteor Shower Peaks on 22-23 April

This is the headline event of the week. The Lyrids meteor shower is already active across Singapore skies from 17 to 26 April 2026, but the real magic happens overnight on 22 April into the early hours of 23 April, when stargazers can expect anywhere between 10 and 20 bright, fast-moving meteors per hour.

The best viewing window is between 2am and 5am, after the moon has set and the radiant point in the constellation Lyra climbs higher in the sky. You do not need a telescope — just your eyes, a bit of patience, and somewhere dark enough to actually see the stars. Give your eyes 15 to 20 minutes to adjust before you start scanning.

Where to go? Our favourite dark-sky spots are Changi Beach Park, Labrador Nature Reserve, and the quieter stretches of East Coast Park. Changi Beach in particular is a local legend for stargazing because the open view over the Straits keeps light pollution low. Pack a mat, bring mozzie repellent, and keep a hot drink handy — the early hours can get surprisingly breezy by the coast.

2. It’s a Capy Celebration at River Wonders

Singapore’s capybara obsession has reached new heights. River Wonders is marking the 100-day milestone of its newest capybara pup — born to parents Muniek and Luna — with a month-long event running from 3 April to 3 May 2026. That means you have just under two weeks left to catch the festivities before they wrap.

Highlights include a dedicated Capy Crew Trail where visitors pick up a Capy Fan Card and tick off checkpoints across the park, specially themed photo points, keeper talks, and enrichment sessions where you can watch the capybaras tuck into ice cakes and food-stuffed fire hose reels. During the Once Upon a River presentation and the Amazon River Quest boat ride, keep an eye out for Lester and Dexter, two other members of the Capy Crew.

Six lucky winners will walk away with a Capybara Zookeeper for a Day experience and a Hello from the Wild interaction. And yes, there is capybara-themed ice cream and a commemorative plushie complete with a birth certificate, because of course there is.

River Wonders is located at 80 Mandai Lake Road, Singapore 729826. Nearest MRT: Khatib (NS14), then bus 138. Open daily from 10am to 7pm.

3. Circular Fashion Week Makes Its Debut (23-26 April)

Singapore’s sustainable fashion scene is getting its biggest moment yet. Circular Fashion Week, organised by The Fashion Pulpit, runs from 23 to 26 April 2026 and marks the first dedicated event of its kind on our shores.

The headliner is the Circular Fashion Runway on 23 April at 298 Jalan Besar, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Six regional brands — Singapore’s A Vintage Tale, Peya Rework and Playdate; Indonesia’s Setali and Pijakbumi; and the Philippines’ And Again Clothing — will strut reworked, upcycled pieces that prove preloved can outpace fast fashion any day.

Expect a pop-up Circular Fashion Marketplace, panel talks with industry leaders including Pijakbumi co-founder Vania Audrey Pakpahan, and a Circular Fashion Week Trail offering week-long discounts at ten participating stores. For the conscious shopper, this is your cue.

4. Pop Mart’s Dimoo Takes Over Plaza Singapura

Art toy fans, unite. Pop Mart’s Dimoo character has landed at Plaza Singapura’s outdoor plaza in an immersive theatre-themed pop-up, and it will be there until 7 June 2026. The installation leans into dramatic theatre aesthetics, complete with photo-worthy backdrops that are already filling up Instagram feeds.

If you have been trying to complete your Dimoo blind-box collection, this is a prime spot to browse the full range. Weekends tend to get busy, so a weekday evening drop-in is your best bet.

Plaza Singapura, 68 Orchard Road. Nearest MRT: Dhoby Ghaut (NS24/NE6/CC1).

5. Pizza Maru’s Cheese Pull Challenge at Changi T2

Pizza Maru has just reopened at Changi Airport Terminal 2 (a short relocation from its old Jewel outlet) and is marking the move with a viral-worthy Chicago Cheese Pull Challenge from 18 to 30 April 2026.

Here is the deal: order their Salted Egg Chicago Pizza ($27.90 for a regular 9″, dine-in only), lift a slice, and stretch the cheese. A 50cm pull nets you 10% off; hit 120cm and you walk away with 50% off. Limit one redemption per table, and the new outlet is just steps from the Changi Airport MRT station, which means you no longer have to trek all the way into Jewel for your pizza fix.

6. Scoot Opens Bookings for New Indonesian Routes

Budget travellers, perk up. Scoot announced on 9 April that it is adding two new Indonesian routes to its network. Flights to Belitung start 3 May 2026 (twice weekly, from SGD99 one-way) and Pontianak kicks off 29 June 2026 (three times weekly, from SGD129 one-way). Both routes will be operated by the Embraer E190-E2.

Bookings are already live on the Scoot website and app. If you have been craving somewhere new but affordable for the June school holidays, these are your next two long-weekend escapes.

7. Quieter News: A National Moment of Reflection

On a more sombre note, Singapore noted the passing of Mrs Sarvambikai Shanmugaratnam, mother of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who died peacefully at home on 19 April at the age of 99. She was cremated in a private ceremony in accordance with her wishes. Mrs Shanmugaratnam was the widow of the late Emeritus Professor Kanagaratnam Shanmugaratnam, often referred to as Singapore’s “father of pathology”.

Final Thoughts

This is one of those weeks where Singapore feels like it is firing on every cylinder — nature, culture, food, fashion, family, and travel all in one seven-day stretch. The best bit? Most of these experiences are budget-friendly (the meteor shower is literally free) and easily pairable with a meal or a shopping trip.

Whatever you end up doing, do not let this week pass you by. April is usually the lull before the June holiday frenzy, and this one is anything but quiet. Bookmark the ones that speak to you, rope in a friend, and make the most of a packed, generous week in the Little Red Dot.
