Tesla opens Dunearn Village Superchargers to all EVs as SimplyGo adds charger search and pay

Tesla has opened its four high-speed chargers at Dunearn Village to all electric vehicles, and SimplyGo now lets drivers find and pay for chargers from six operators in one app, The Straits Times reported. The Dunearn Village bays are the first Tesla chargers in Singapore open to non-Tesla cars.

The four charging spaces at the Bukit Timah shopping mall started operating in early October. Drivers have to download the Tesla app to use them.

The chargers are rated at 250kW and can add more than 280km of range in 15 minutes. The Straits Times noted that most fast chargers in Singapore’s public network are rated between 50kW and 120kW.

  • Non-Tesla cars: 63 to 91 cents per kWh, depending on the time of day
  • Tesla owners: 47 to 67 cents per kWh

The other 18 Tesla charging sites remain exclusive to Tesla cars. Tesla did not comment when The Straits Times asked whether it planned to open them to other EVs. The company has already opened some chargers to other brands in Australia, Malaysia and several European countries.

SimplyGo charger search and pay

SimplyGo rolled out the feature on its app in early October. It covers six operators: Busways, Busways Public, G. Tech, City Energy Go, MNL Asia and EV Mobility. Together they offer more than 1,100 charging points at 332 locations, mostly in condominiums and commercial buildings.

Chargers on the app range from 7kW alternating current units to 240kW direct current units, and cost 30 to 86 cents per kWh depending on location, operator and charger type. Some points are not open to the public, as access follows each location’s own rules.

Who is not on it yet

Larger operators with chargers in HDB carparks, namely Charge+, CDG Energy, Shell Recharge and SP Mobility, are not on SimplyGo. A SimplyGo spokesperson told The Straits Times it is working to bring more operators on board.

The Land Transport Authority’s MyTransport app covers 28 charging operators, most of which run their own apps and ask users to sign up and pay a deposit.
