Steps at i Light Singapore 2026 is a useful stop for families who want an artwork children can understand visually. Created by Singapore student artist Nawal Bte Azhar, the installation will stand along the Waterfront Promenade at Marina Boulevard.
Its illuminated frames form stair-like shapes that appear to shift depending on where you stand.
What Children Will Notice
The changing perspective is the easy entry point. Walk around it and the intervals seem to compress, expand and tilt, which makes the artwork more active than a static sculpture.
For parents, this is a good place to let children compare viewpoints and talk about how the same object can look different from another angle.
A Local Design Story
Steps interprets Singapore’s evolution through spatial relationships, moving from tight constraints to more open possibilities. It is part of i Light Future, the DesignSingapore Council mentorship platform for emerging design talent.
