Primary school transfer window closes on 26 November

The Primary School Transfer Service is open for the December 2026 move, and applications close at 4.30pm on 26 November. The exercise shifts a child to a school near a new home address, and it runs three times a year, ahead of the March, May and November school holidays.

Two conditions shape the result. The child must be moving to a new address, and the receiving school must have a vacancy. That is why the form carries no school preference: the Ministry of Education offers a place at a school with vacancies nearer the new home, and the school offered need not be the one a family had in mind.

Who can apply

The child must be a Singapore Citizen or a permanent resident, and in Primary 1 to 5 this year. Primary 6 sits outside the exercise in practice. MOE discourages transfers in the PSLE year and asks families with special circumstances to raise them with the current school.

A Primary 5 pupil who already carries a set of subject combinations is offered a school that teaches the same combination, so the transfer does not reset the timetable.

What the December dates are

The window opened at 9am on Monday 2 November and closes at 4.30pm on Thursday 26 November 2026. The outcome arrives on Thursday 10 December. Families report to the current school and to the new school between Friday 11 December and Thursday 31 December 2026.

Applying online

The form runs on Singpass and takes about 10 minutes. MOE recommends Microsoft Edge for it. A single parent can apply online when only that parent’s name is on the child’s birth certificate, or when the spouse has passed away.

Transfers sought for other reasons, medical conditions among them, go through the current school instead of this exercise.

Reporting to both schools

The outcome can be read on the system with Singpass, at the current school, or in an SMS to the local mobile number given with the application.

Reporting starts at the current school, which releases the child, and finishes at the new school. The NRIC must carry the new address by then. The current school asks for the child’s birth certificate or entry and re-entry permit, and for both parents’ NRICs or permits.

The reporting period closes on Thursday 31 December. A family that misses it, or turns the offer down, keeps the current school place. A family that completes it moves the child, who attends the new school in the term that follows.

Why there is no September window

The exercise skips September. MOE gives one reason: a transfer in the final term of the academic year is not educationally beneficial. The cycles sit before the March, May and November holidays instead, so a successful child starts with a new term.
