If you have ever wondered how to talk to your teen about online safety without the conversation turning into an eye-roll marathon, Meta has a new idea — and it involves a free, hands-on experience right here in Singapore.
Meta launched Digital Dialogue IRL on 25 June 2026, a free interactive exhibition at Temasek Shophouse designed to bring teens, parents, and educators together to navigate the realities of online life — through conversation, not lectures.

What is Digital Dialogue IRL?
Digital Dialogue IRL is a collaborative experience created by Meta and Eyeyah!, a Singapore-based creative education studio. The exhibition runs from 25 June to 31 July 2026 and is free to attend. It is designed around real conversations rather than passive information delivery — visitors explore scenarios around online harms, privacy, digital identity, and how Meta’s safety features (including the much-talked-about Teen Accounts) actually work.
The pilot version of this programme was trialled in local schools earlier this year, and the results were compelling: students who went through the experience saw their familiarity with online safety concepts jump from 52% to 71%. Beyond knowledge, 78% said they felt more confident discussing these topics with their families. That is the kind of shift that matters.

Teen Accounts and the Safety Features Behind the Exhibition
Central to the exhibition is a showcase of Meta’s Teen Accounts — a set of built-in protections on Instagram (and soon Messenger and Facebook) that automatically apply stricter defaults for users under 18. Features include time limits, restricted content filters, and supervision tools for parents. Digital Dialogue IRL gives families a chance to explore these features together in a guided, low-pressure environment rather than fumbling through settings at home.

What Singapore Officials and Parents Are Saying
The initiative has drawn support at the ministerial level. Minister of State Rahayu Mahzam, speaking at the launch, noted that online safety is not a solo endeavour — it requires the whole family to be on the same page. The exhibition, she said, provides a practical and approachable way for families to build that shared understanding.
Clara Koh, Meta’s Head of Public Policy for Singapore, echoed this: “We know that the most effective conversations about online safety happen when parents and teens explore these issues together. Digital Dialogue IRL creates the conditions for exactly that.”
Parent feedback from the school pilots has been encouraging too. Premlatha D/O Selvaraj, a parent whose child participated in the programme, shared that it opened up conversations at home that she had struggled to start on her own. “My daughter came back and explained to me how the safety settings work. It was the first time we really talked about this properly.”

How to Visit
Digital Dialogue IRL is free and open to the public from 25 June to 31 July 2026 at Temasek Shophouse, Singapore. No booking required — just show up. The exhibition is suitable for teens, parents, and educators alike. Whether you are a family looking to get on the same page, or a teacher seeking new ways to bring digital literacy into the classroom, this is worth a visit.

In a landscape where online safety messaging can feel preachy and abstract, Digital Dialogue IRL stands out for meeting families where they are — curious, sometimes confused, and looking for a starting point. If you are a parent with a teenager on Instagram, this is as good a reason as any to make the trip.
