We Went to the Honor Magic V6 Launch — Here’s What You Need to Know

Foldable phones have had a bit of a reputation problem. Cool to look at, but maybe not quite ready for everyday life. Honor is trying to change that narrative with the Magic V6, and after attending the Singapore launch at Mandarin Oriental on 4 February, we’d say they’re making a pretty strong case.

The room was buzzing, the demos were hands-on, and by the end of the evening there was a very convincing phone sitting in a tank of water at the booth. More on that shortly.

First, some context. Honor shared that they’ve grown to become one of the top three smartphone brands in Singapore, which is no small feat given how crowded the market is. The Magic V6 is their flagship foldable and made its global debut at MWC 2026 earlier this year.

So what’s the big deal? At just 8.75mm thin when folded, the Magic V6 is currently the world’s thinnest foldable. That’s thinner than most regular smartphones. And somehow, Honor actually made it more durable at that thickness not less.

The phone comes in four colours — Ferghana Red, Sunrise Gold, Ivory White, and Classic Black. The Ferghana Red with its textured, leather-like back was the clear crowd favourite on the day. That orbital camera ring looks like jewellery, honestly.

Unfold it and you get a 7.95-inch inner display that’s genuinely tablet-sized. We had a good look at the camera output on the demo units, and the shots were noticeably sharp plenty of detail even when zoomed in, and the colours came out natural rather than over-processed. The 64-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 6.5x optical image stabilisation does a lot of the heavy lifting there.

Now, about that water demo. The Magic V6 carries both IP68 and IP69 (IP68 means it can survive being dunked in water, and IP69 means it can handle high-pressure jets) ratings, making it the most water-resistant foldable on the market right now. Honor set up a live demonstration at the booth where the phone was fully submerged in a water tank for guests to see with their own eyes. Not a quick dip, it just sat there, running.

For a foldable phone with a hinge that opens and closes, hitting IP68 and IP69 together is a pretty significant engineering achievement. Most foldables still shy away from water resistance claims entirely.

Battery life has always been the Achilles’ heel for foldables, but the Magic V6 packs a 6,660mAh silicon-carbon battery. The largest ever in a foldable and Honor claims it outlasts the iPhone Pro Max. If that holds up in daily use, it’s a real game changer.

On the AI front, there’s a meeting assistant that records, identifies who’s speaking, and gives you a catch-up summary if you joined late. There’s also a keyword monitor that works in the background and flags important mentions while you’re away from your desk. Practical stuff, not just flashy demos.

One thing that really stood out: Honor has put serious thought into Apple ecosystem connectivity. You can access iCloud Photos directly from the Magic V6, mirror your Mac’s screen onto the big inner display, and do one-tap file sharing between the phone and your Mac. For anyone juggling both Android and Apple devices, which is a lot of us in Singapore, that’s actually very useful.

Here’s the pricing:

Storage Price
16GB + 512GB SGD 2,599
16GB + 1TB SGD 2,899

Pre-orders are open from 4 to 11 June 2026, and come with a gift bundle worth SGD 1,088 that includes a DJI Osmo Action 6 plus 365-day screen protection for both the inner and outer displays. General sale kicks off 12 June 2026 across Honor Stores, Singtel, M1, StarHub, Challenger, Best Denki, Courts, Gain City, Harvey Norman, Popular, Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop.

They also announced the Honor Magic Pad 4 tablet at SGD 1,299, available from the same date.

If you’ve been on the fence about foldables, the Magic V6 is one of the most convincing reasons yet to make the switch. And with a free DJI action cam thrown into the pre-order bundle that’s a pretty sweet deal.
