Team Singapore Names Flag Bearers for Asian Games and Youth Olympic Games 2026

Under the banner of One Team, One Dream, Team Singapore’s athletes bound for the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 and the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games gathered at OCBC Square at The Kallang on 29 August 2026 for the Team Singapore Flag Presentation Ceremony. In all, 304 athletes across 27 sports will contest the Asian Games from 19 September to 4 October 2026, while 13 athletes across nine sports head to the Youth Olympic Games from 31 October to 13 November 2026.

The Flag Bearers

Fencer Kiria Tikanah Abdul Rahman and kayaker Brandon Ooi Wei Cheng were unveiled as Asian Games flag bearers, while table tennis player Loy Ming Ying and badminton’s Zack Ng Zhen Hong will carry the flag at the Youth Olympic Games. Softball women’s captain Cacia Tan led the contingent in the Athletes’ Pledge, with SNOC President Grace Fu and Minister David Neo presenting the flag to the Chefs de Mission.

“Having represented Singapore at various competitions over the years, being chosen as a flag bearer is something really special,” said Kiria Tikanah. Brandon Ooi, 32, added that after first competing at 15, leading the contingent as flag bearer was a moment he “never expected” but is deeply honoured to carry.

20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026

Close to two-thirds of the 304-strong Asian Games contingent will make their Games debut. Seasoned names such as Shanti Pereira (athletics), Ryan Lo (sailing), Stephenie Chen (canoe) and Amita Berthier (fencing) line up alongside debutants including Amanda Yap (gymnastics), Ser Lin Qian (table tennis) and Ian Goh (sailing). Chef de Mission Goh Kee Nguan said his focus is on giving athletes “the confidence, support and environment they need to perform at their best”.

Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games

The Youth Olympic Games contingent of 13 young athletes will test themselves against the world’s best juniors. Chef de Mission Silas Abdul Razak, a torchbearer at the inaugural Singapore 2010 YOG, said the Games are “about more than just competition”, pointing to the friendships and lessons athletes carry long after. Around 2,000 people, including Minister David Neo and Olympians past and present, also joined the 3.7km Olympic Day Walk 2026 around The Kallang.
