Apple’s OLED iPad mini goes on sale in Singapore on 6 November from S$999

Apple’s new iPad mini with the A20 Pro chip goes on sale in Singapore on Friday (6 November), priced from S$999 for the 128GB Wi-Fi model on Apple’s Singapore online store, where pre-orders opened on 29 October.

It is the first iPad mini with an OLED screen. The display grows to 8.5 inches inside the same footprint as the previous model, and the body is 5.4mm thin with an IP67 rating for water and dust.

Singapore prices by model

The standard-glass Wi-Fi models cost S$999 for 128GB, S$1,149 for 256GB and S$1,449 for 512GB. The Wi-Fi + Cellular versions cost S$1,229, S$1,379 and S$1,679.

Nano-texture glass, which cuts glare, is offered only on the 256GB and 512GB models. With it, the Wi-Fi versions cost S$1,299 and S$1,599, and the Wi-Fi + Cellular versions S$1,529 and S$1,829.

Both finishes, midnight and starlight, carry the same prices. The education price starts at S$929. The Apple Store limits each customer to six Wi-Fi units and six cellular units.

The chip changes with storage

The 128GB and 256GB models get a five-core A20 Pro CPU with a single 16-core Neural Engine. The 512GB model gets a six-core CPU and a dual 16-core Neural Engine, so the top storage tier also carries the faster chip configuration. All three have a seven-core GPU.

Apple’s own figures put multithreaded CPU performance up to 60 per cent ahead of the previous iPad mini, graphics up to 2.7 times faster and AI tasks up to 4.5 times faster. Those are manufacturer claims, not test results.

Display and battery figures

According to Apple’s iPad mini specifications, the Super Retina XDR panel runs at 2316 by 1512 pixels and 326 pixels per inch. Full-screen brightness is 600 nits, HDR peaks at 1,200 nits and the minimum is 1 nit.

The battery is rated at 18.9 watt-hours, with up to 10 hours of web use or video on Wi-Fi and nine hours on mobile data. Fast charging to 50 per cent in 30 minutes needs a 35W or stronger USB-C adapter, which is sold separately. The box holds a 20W adapter and a one-metre USB-C cable.

The Wi-Fi model weighs 255g and the cellular model 263g.

Connectivity and cameras

Every model uses Apple’s N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread. Cellular models use the C2 modem with 5G and are eSIM-only, with no physical SIM tray. The USB-C port runs at up to 10Gb/s and drives one external display at up to 4K and 60Hz.

The 12MP front camera now sits on the long edge, so it is centred when the tablet is held sideways. The 12MP rear camera records 4K video at up to 60 frames per second and gains an Adaptive True Tone flash.
