Affordable Zi Char at a Hidden and Quiet Old Hawker Centre

Have you heard of Jalan Batu Hawker Centre? I didn’t even know where Jalan Batu was. I met my friend for dinner, and we usually go to our favorite place. However, we often end up exploring new spots in our quest for good and affordable eats.

Today, my friend suggested Jalan Batu, a place I was unfamiliar with. I decided to follow his suggestion.

Upon arrival, I realized I had driven past this place (near the Esso station) many times without noticing the hawker centre inside.

This place is truly hidden. When we arrived at 7:30 pm, 90% of the shops were closed.

Thankfully, a few shops were still open, and we discovered a zi char stall called “Victory Canton Wok” with many customers.

At first glance, we knew this place would be good. We ordered a few dishes.

What makes good hor fun? It’s stir-fried, giving it a little char with wok hei before being drenched in sauce. This was nicely done.

The Nai Bai was stir-fried with garlic and the special thing here is that they topped it fried garlic bits.

A quick Google search revealed that the Prawn Paste Chicken is a must-order.

The dishes we tried were delicious. Although it wasn’t a “wow” meal, the price was very reasonable. Everything amounted to S$24. Worth it? Totally yes!
