Punggol residents have waited three extra years for this one. The ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre opening is set for Sunday, 22 November 2026, and Sport Singapore is throwing the doors open with free gym and swimming pool entry for the whole day. The opening programme runs from 8am to 1pm at 11 Sentul Crescent, Singapore 828656, with sport tryouts, carnival games and free snacks and drinks, according to the official ActiveSG event listing.
The gym has already been running quietly since late October, so this is less of a ribbon cutting and more of a full reveal. Here is what to expect on the day, what is open now, and what you will pay once the free entry ends.
ActiveSG Punggol Sport Centre opening day: what is on
ActiveSG describes the morning as a fun-filled one, and the poster for the event lists the following:
- Sport tryouts and carnival games from 8am to 1pm
- Free entry to the gym and swimming pools all day
- Gifts up for grabs while stocks last (the poster shows a drawstring bag and a towel)
- Free snacks and drinks
No registration is mentioned on the listing, so it reads as a walk-in event. Since the pools and gym are free all day, expect queues at the gym in the morning; if you only want a workout, the afternoon is your better bet.

What the new sport centre has
This is a regional-scale centre, not a neighbourhood pool with a gym tacked on. The facilities ActiveSG lists for Punggol Sport Centre include:
- A swimming complex with five pools
- A 5,000-seater football stadium
- Indoor badminton and pickleball courts
- A gym and fitness studios
- Sheltered tennis and futsal courts
- An Active Health Lab
ActiveSG’s facility pages show the Punggol ActiveSG Gym, the sport halls and the sheltered pickleball and tennis courts all running daily from 7am to 10pm, with no closures listed as of 5 November 2026. The Punggol Sport Centre page gives the same hours.
Why it took until 2026
The centre was first due to open in 2023. In a parliamentary reply on 11 November 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth said construction started in 2020 and fell well behind schedule because of Covid-19 material and labour shortages. That pushed the opening back to 2026.
In the meantime, Punggol residents were pointed to school halls under the Dual-Use Scheme and to Sengkang Sport Centre. If you have been making the trip to Sengkang for a swim, the 22 November opening is your cue to stop.
What you will pay after the free day
Free entry is for 22 November only. After that, normal ActiveSG rates apply, and we broke them down in our guide to what an ActiveSG swim, gym session and court cost now. The short version for Singapore citizens and PRs:
- Gym entry is S$2.50 per visit for adults, or S$1.50 for students and seniors
- MyActiveGYM costs S$30 a month for adults for all ActiveGYMs at any hour, or S$15 a month for the off-peak version (weekdays until 4pm)
- MyActiveSWIM costs S$10 a month for adults and S$5 for children and seniors, and covers every ActiveSG pool
- Badminton is S$3.50 an hour off-peak and S$7.40 at peak
If you already hold a monthly pass, it works at Punggol too. Singaporeans with unused SG60 ActiveSG credits can also put them towards entry and bookings; our explainer on what SG60 ActiveSG credits pay for covers the limits.

How to make the most of a new gym
A shiny new gym is a good nudge, but the habit is what counts. Singapore’s physical activity guidelines ask adults to do muscle-strengthening work at least two days a week, a target most of us miss, as we noted in our piece on the strength guideline. A few practical tips if Punggol becomes your new regular:
- Start with two fixed slots a week, such as one weekday evening and one weekend morning, and book them into your calendar.
- Try the off-peak MyActiveGYM pass if you work shifts or from home, since it costs half the peak monthly price.
- Drop by the Active Health Lab and ask what checks it offers before you ramp up, especially if you have not trained in a while.
- Mix in a swim or a pickleball session so the routine does not get boring by December.
Getting there and good to know
The address is 11 Sentul Crescent, Singapore 828656. Check the map link on the ActiveSG facility page for the best route from your block, as Sport Singapore planned the centre to be integrated with Punggol’s waterways and co-located with the SAFRA clubhouse. Gifts are while stocks last, so early birds get the goodie bags.
One small kiasu tip: bring your own towel and lock for the pool, because a free-entry Sunday in a brand-new complex will be packed by mid-morning. Outdoor courts may close in bad weather, so check NEA’s weather nowcast if the sky looks grey.
