Women’s golf is about to get a fast, floodlit, team-format makeover, and several of Asia’s biggest names are right at the centre of it. World No. 2 Jeeno Thitikul of Thailand headlines a 25-player field for the inaugural season of the WTGL, the new women’s team golf league created by TMRW Sports in partnership with the LPGA. For Singapore golf fans who have followed the region’s rise on the LPGA Tour, it is a chance to see familiar stars in an entirely new setting.
Asian stars lead a stacked field
Jeeno is joined by a strong Asian contingent. China’s World No. 8 Ruoning Yin, a major champion who won her sixth LPGA title last weekend, lines up alongside her at Motor City Golf Club. Japan’s two-time U.S. Women’s Open winner Yuka Saso, Korea’s World No. 20 Ina Yoon, and Japanese twin sisters Aki Iwai and Chizzy Iwai complete the regional representation across the five founding teams.

Five teams, familiar faces
The league’s five founding teams bring together World Golf Hall of Fame members, major champions and rising talents. New Zealand’s Lydia Ko, an Olympic gold medallist and LPGA Hall of Famer, anchors New York Golf Club, while Australia’s Minjee Lee — a three-time major winner whose brother Min Woo plays in the men’s TGL — features for Atlanta Drive GC.
The full founding rosters are: Atlanta Drive GC (Nataliya Guseva, Charley Hull, Andrea Lee, Minjee Lee, Yuka Saso); Boston Common Golf (Celine Boutier, Chizzy Iwai, Megan Khang, Lottie Woad, Ina Yoon); Los Angeles Golf Club (Aki Iwai, Alison Lee, Gaby Lopez, Kiara Romero, Michelle Wie West); Motor City Golf Club (Brooke Henderson, Jeeno Thitikul, Lexi Thompson, Ruoning Yin, Albane Valenzuela); and New York Golf Club (Linn Grant, Danielle Kang, Lydia Ko, Yana Wilson, Rose Zhang).
How the format works
The five teams begin competition in November at the custom-built, tech-infused SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida — the same arena that hosts the men’s TGL. Each side carries a balanced five-player roster, with three players competing in every match, putting a premium on strategy and line-up decisions.
Matches run a round-robin regular season into single-elimination semifinals and a best-of-three final. The fast-paced format leans on mic’d-up access, a strategic “Hammer”, shot-clock pressure and real-time data — the aim being a head-to-head contest that, like the best team sports, is done in roughly two hours.
Why it matters here
The 25 players named for WTGL have a combined 112 LPGA Tour victories and 15 major championships between them, and include eight of the world’s top 15. With Southeast Asian and East Asian golfers increasingly dominant on the women’s circuit, the league gives Singapore fans plenty of local-interest storylines to follow when play begins.
