Waymo will be Singapore’s newest autonomous vehicle operator, joining ComfortDelGro and Grab, the Land Transport Authority said on 18 September 2026.
The Alphabet-owned firm’s vehicles are expected to arrive in the next few months. Initial manual driving is planned for 2027, with commercial ride-hailing through the Waymo app aimed for 2028, subject to LTA safety and regulatory checks.

LTA framed the entry as part of a longer push to attract world-class AV players and widen the range of autonomous mobility options for commuters. Waymo will sit alongside ComfortDelGro and Grab as licensed operators here.
What the timeline says
Waymo’s own Singapore post, dated 17 September 2026, sets out a three-step path: fleet arrival in the coming months, a 2027 readiness phase with trained specialists driving Jaguar I-PACE vehicles manually while adapting the system to local roads and weather, then a 2028 public commercial launch on the Waymo app.
Fleet size, fares, operating hours and coverage areas have not been published. LTA said it will work with Waymo so deployments meet safety requirements and build public trust before paid rides begin.

What this is not
This is not a same-week robotaxi launch. Manual driving comes first in 2027. Paid autonomous rides are a 2028 target, not a 2026 timetable.
The Government has also said AV deployment will not run ahead of retraining support for affected drivers, building on a manpower transition package announced in July 2026.
Waymo said it intends to complement public transport as a first- and last-mile option and run an all-electric fleet. Singapore Green Plan and emissions claims on its blog are the company’s figures, not an LTA guarantee.
Commercial Waymo ride-hailing in Singapore remains scheduled for 2028, after the 2027 readiness phase and LTA approvals.
