The Kallang Countdown 2027: Highlight (Beast) headlines the New Year’s Eve concert

The Kallang Countdown 2027 has its headliner, and second-generation K-pop fans will be pleased. Highlight, the boy group that started out as Beast in 2009, will lead the New Year’s Eve concert at The Kallang, The Kallang Group announced on 4 November 2026.

It is the precinct’s biggest community celebration of the year, and it caps a run of big-name shows at the Stadium and Indoor Stadium that has barely let up since October.

Who is Highlight?

Highlight debuted as Beast in 2009 and became one of the defining acts of K-pop’s second generation, picking up several Daesang grand prizes for Artist of the Year and Song of the Year. If “Fiction” or “On Rainy Days” was on your playlist back then, this one is aimed squarely at you.

The group was last in Singapore in September 2024, when they closed their Lights Go On, Again Asia Tour here. For the countdown, they have promised a set that mixes the early classics with their more recent releases.

“To headline one of Singapore’s most iconic countdown events is an honour, and we promise to bring incredible energy to the stage,” the group said.

What else is on The Kallang Countdown 2027 line-up

Highlight will not be on stage alone. The Kallang says the concert will also feature a mix of regional and homegrown acts, which have not been named yet. Full ticketing details are also still to come.

If you want a head start, sign up for The Kallang Kaki membership through The Kallang App. Members will get priority access to concert tickets when they are released.

The countdown also sits under the islandwide ONE Countdown 2027, which links New Year’s Eve celebrations around Singapore, including in the heartlands. More on those plans is due later in November.

A packed season at The Kallang

The countdown is the last stop of a very busy few months for the precinct. October brought The Weeknd, Avenged Sevenfold, BigBang, Hans Zimmer and the Mandopop showcase SING浪, along with KUN’s The Deadman tour.

November leans rock and alternative, with My Chemical Romance, Simple Plan, Guns N’ Roses and Korean indie band Wave To Earth, plus Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja and BABYMONSTER. December belongs to BTS, which lines up with the BTS THE CITY ARIRANG takeover across Singapore.

Into 2027, Jay Chou, Westlife, BOYNEXTDOOR and Kenshi Yonezu play in January, Maroon 5 and YOASOBI in February, Stray Kids and ENHYPEN in March, and beabadoobee and Bruno Mars in April.

Our take

Highlight is a smart pick for a family-friendly countdown. Fans who grew up on Beast are now old enough to bring their own kids, and a sing-along of early hits suits the last night of the year. If you are stretching your year-end leave, New Year’s Eve at The Kallang looks like a strong way to end it. We will update this story when ticket prices and the full line-up are out.
