The winning Bowling Women’s Team comprised Cherie Tan Shi Hua, Daphne Tan Shi Jing, New Hui Fen, Shayna Ng Lin Zhi, Bernice Lim Hui Ying and Ning Tay (Zheng Ning). The winning Optimist team comprised Lucas Zhihong Cao, Ethan Han Wei Chia, Sean Kok Wei Kum, Pee Teck Woon and Ashlea Tham. Naming the athletes matters: a team award is not evidence for only the best-known member.
Who did the headline winners emerge from?
Yapp was selected from a six-person Sportsman field that also contained Maximilian Maeder, Darren Ong Wei Siong, Calvin Quek Jun Jie, Tay Yu Xuan and Avvir Tham. New was selected from eight Sportswoman finalists: Stephenie Chen Jiexian, Gan Ching Hwee, Juliet Heng Jie Min, Zeanne Law Zhi Ning, Veronica Shanti Pereira, Shannon Tan Xuan Yin, Valencia Yip and New herself.
The junior ballots were also broader than the results alone suggest. The Sportsboy field was Ethan Chia Han Wei, Siddharth Jagadeesh, Dean Kang, Kai Minejima-Lee and Russel Pang. The Sportsgirl finalists were Elle Koh Meihui, Mikayla Angeline Yang, Amanda Yap Ee-Lin, Julia Yeo Shu Ning and Anya Alessia Zahedi. Those names and spellings follow SNOC’s finalist record; they should not be inferred from the shorter winners release.

How the 2026 winners were selected
SNOC’s finalist announcement and selection note says National Sports Associations submitted nominations under established eligibility criteria, including results during the qualifying period. Selection committees reviewed those nominations and chose the winners by secret ballot; KPMG tabulated the results.
The main awards committee was chaired by SNOC president Grace Fu, while SNOC vice-president Jessie Phua chaired the Sportsboy and Sportsgirl committee. Nine of the 12 categories were administered by SNOC. SportSG managed the processes for the two event awards and Most Inspiring Sports Story of the Year.
This process creates an important reporting limit: SNOC published the winners and finalists, but not vote totals, scorecards or category-by-category rationales. It is therefore sound to report who won; it is not sound to label a result a landslide, a narrow decision or a judging “snub” without evidence.
What the results reveal—and what they do not
LBRD’s records review finds two visible patterns. First, bowling appears in both the Sportswoman and Team of the Year (Event) results, with New Hui Fen named in each. Second, Singapore’s 2025 aquatics programme was recognised across mass participation and competition hosting, including a joint result in the competition-event category. These are observations from the published list, not claims about the selectors’ private reasoning.
The official results also separate team sport from a team assembled for a specific event. The Dragon Boat Women’s Team won the former, while the six-member bowling side won the latter. Combining those awards into a single “best team” label would erase a distinction the organisers deliberately made.
How to read the awards record accurately
Four labels are easy to blur. “2026” is the ceremony edition, while the assessed work came from 2025. “Team Sport” and “Event” are separate categories, not two descriptions of one prize. The competition-event category had joint winners, so neither aquatics event should be presented as runner-up. Finally, SNOC announced additional Meritorious Awards for senior, junior and, for the first time, coaching performances; those honours sit outside the 12 competitive category results listed above. Keeping these distinctions intact prevents a search-friendly summary from changing the official meaning.
When were the achievements assessed?
The 2026 awards recognised achievements and contributions from 2025; they were not a ranking of performances already recorded in 2026. That distinction matters when comparing the result with newer form or when searching by ceremony year: an athlete’s 2026 result did not form part of this ballot.
