NAC’s 2026 Traditional Arts Residency supports artists, groups or collectives developing intercultural or cross-disciplinary work with a strong Traditional Arts focus. The residency spans four to six months within the period from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027.
For applicants, the headline support is a grant of up to S$30,000. That includes up to S$20,000 for the artist-in-residence and collaborators’ honorarium, research and other residency costs, with further support for production and presentation needs.
Who It Is For
The lead applicant can be an arts practitioner primarily practising Traditional Arts with at least two years of relevant arts experience, or an arts practitioner with a track record of integrating Traditional Arts into their practice and creation.
The strongest fit is a project that treats tradition as a living practice rather than a decorative theme. NAC’s wording points to experimentation, incubation and international dissemination, so applicants should show how the work can travel beyond a one-off local showing.
Before Applying
Prepare a clear residency plan, collaborator roles, research direction and budget. A good application should explain why the work needs residency time, how Traditional Arts sits at the centre of the project, and what audiences or future presenters can take from the final development.
Applicants can review eligibility on NAC’s Traditional Arts Residency page.
