Lion City Sailors open SPL title defence against Hougang United on 12 September at Bishan

Lion City Sailors open their Singapore Premier League 2026/27 title defence against Hougang United at Bishan Stadium on Saturday, 12 September 2026, with kick-off at 7.30pm.

The club confirmed Matchday One on its fixtures board and a 12 September preview. The league opener follows the Community Shield weekend and starts a 21-match triple round-robin season released by the Football Association of Singapore on 24 July.

Third straight Matchday One against Hougang

Sailors have opened the league against Hougang for three seasons running. They beat the Cheetahs 4-1 on the first day of 2024/25 and 2-1 at the start of last season on the way to back-to-back titles, their third SPL crown since the club’s 2020 launch.

Jesús Casas’ side now chase a third consecutive league title. Hougang are listed first on the Sailors fixtures page for the Bishan Stadium fixture on 12 September.

What follows on the calendar

After Matchday One, Sailors’ first home league date against Young Lions is listed for Sunday, 11 October at Jalan Besar Stadium, once the late-September and early-October FIFA break is over. A denser stretch then follows: FC Jurong away on 18 October, Tampines at home on 21 October, and Tanjong Pagar United on 25 October.
