iPhone Duo pre-orders open in Singapore on 16 October from S$3,099

Apple’s first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, opens for pre-order in Singapore at 8pm on Friday, 16 October, from S$3,099 for 256GB. Apple Singapore puts it on sale a week later, on Friday 23 October, in Star White and Night Sky.

Four storage tiers, from S$3,099 to S$4,899

The price is the same for both colours. Each step up in storage adds a fixed amount, and the 2TB model costs S$1,800 more than the base phone.

  • 256GB: S$3,099
  • 512GB: S$3,399
  • 1TB: S$3,999
  • 2TB: S$4,899

For scale, Apple’s own Singapore store starts the iPhone 18 Pro at S$1,899. The Duo’s entry price is S$1,200 above that. Apple’s trade-in programme offers up to S$530 for a current smartphone.

What the fold changes on paper

The inner screen is a 7.6-inch OLED folding display. Closed, the phone uses a 5.4-inch outer display, so it still works as a regular phone without being opened. The inner display is 50 per cent larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max’s screen.

Open, the Duo is 5.2mm thick. Closed, it is 11.3mm. It weighs 254g. The frame and hinge cover are Grade 5 titanium, and the phone is rated IP68 for water and dust, to a depth of six metres for up to 30 minutes.

The chip is the A20 Pro, with a vapour chamber for cooling. The rear has two 48MP cameras, a Fusion Main and a Fusion Ultra Wide, with a 2x optical-quality telephoto crop from the main sensor. There is no separate telephoto lens. The front camera is a 12MP Center Stage unit, and the FaceTime camera on the inner screen sits under the display.

Battery claims and the eSIM catch

Apple uses two batteries in the Duo. Its published figures are up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner display and up to 44 hours on the outer display. Those are Apple’s claims, not independent tests.

Fast charging reaches 50 per cent in 20 minutes, but only with a 60W or higher adapter. Apple sells that adapter separately.

The Duo has no SIM tray. It runs on eSIM only, with two active eSIMs at a time, so a buyer on a plan that still uses a physical SIM card has to switch the line to eSIM with the telco first.

The paper case for paying S$3,099

On the spec sheet, the Duo’s case is the screen: a small-tablet display that folds into a phone with a usable outer screen. The camera is not the reason to pay the premium, since the 2x option is a crop from the main sensor rather than a dedicated lens. The 60W charger is an extra cost on top of every tier.

Pre-orders open at 8pm on 16 October through Apple’s Singapore online store. The phone reaches shops on 23 October.
