Health and sports features

The series uses an upgraded X-Tap sensor that pairs a 12-channel PPG sensor with a pressure sensor for a fuller overview of the wearer’s health. It also adds Pulse Wave Arrhythmia Detection to screen for irregular heart rhythms. When it picks up a possible abnormality, the watch prompts the wearer to take an ECG measurement. The health functions support awareness and do not replace a medical diagnosis. They carry more than 100 workout modes, are water resistant to 50m and support diving to 40m.

Gesture controls

The series keeps the tap and slide controls of earlier models. A wrist-rotation gesture arrives in a later over-the-air update, letting wearers carry out selected actions with one hand, such as rotating the wrist to silence an incoming call.
