Geylang International beat Young Lions 5-1 at Jalan Besar on Saturday 19 September 2026 to keep a perfect start to the 2026/27 Singapore Premier League season heading into the international break.
Hisatoshi Nishido put the Young Lions ahead inside 11 minutes. Two minutes later Fairuz Fazli turned the ball into his own net, and the Eagles never looked back.
How the game turned
Yang Hyeonju drove Geylang in front in the 22nd minute with a low finish. Dejan Racic made it 3-1 before half-time with an individual run finished in the 38th minute.
Stoppage time finished the night. Yang scored again in the 90+2nd minute, then substitute Sahil Suhaimi added a fifth in the 90+8th minute after coming on late for Racic.
What it means
Racic’s goal took him to 25 SPL goals in 30 appearances. Sahil’s finish was his first league goal since May 2025. Nishido’s opener was the Young Lions’ first SPL goal since a 2-2 draw with Geylang on 9 May 2026.
Geylang are now unbeaten in eight games in all competitions against the Young Lions. The last Young Lions win in that run was a 4-2 Singapore Cup result on 26 November 2023. FC Jurong also sit on a perfect start after Matchweek 2, with the league pausing for internationals.
