AstaGuru Singapore: Auction House Opens First Southeast Asia Office

Singapore’s standing as a hub for art and luxury collectors just gained another marquee name. AstaGuru Singapore, the new regional office of one of India’s leading digital-first auction houses, opens this month at Winsland House II, bringing Indian modern and contemporary art, rare timepieces and fine jewellery within closer reach of collectors across Southeast Asia.

Founded in Mumbai in 2008, AstaGuru has built a reputation for placing exceptional works on the global market, from paintings by celebrated Indian masters to watches by Rolex, Patek Philippe, Cartier and Audemars Piguet, and diamond, emerald and ruby jewellery. The Singapore opening marks the auction house’s first dedicated presence in the region, following the launch of its London office earlier this year.

A private gallery at Winsland House II

Rather than a conventional saleroom, the Singapore space is designed as a more intimate way to engage with the works. It houses a private gallery where collectors can preview selected artworks and collectibles ahead of auctions, and consult directly with AstaGuru’s specialists on a piece’s provenance, history and significance. It is a considered fit for a city where interest in art as both passion and asset class has grown sharply in recent years.

From Mumbai to Marina Bay

The Singapore team is led by Managing Director Jillian Kwan and will work across three collecting categories — art, watches and jewellery — offering personalised advisory alongside access to AstaGuru’s international auctions. For regional collectors, that means a local point of contact for cross-border bidding, valuations and consignments that previously meant dealing with Mumbai or London directly.

Indian modern art in focus

AstaGuru’s strongest suit is Indian modern and contemporary art, a market that has drawn growing international attention. Works by names such as Tyeb Mehta and Manjit Bawa — artists whose canvases have set records at auction — sit at the heart of its catalogue, offering Singapore collectors a direct line to a category that is still relatively under-represented in the local gallery scene.

What it means for Singapore collectors

For anyone who follows the city’s cultural calendar, AstaGuru’s arrival adds another layer to a scene already rich with exhibitions and fairs. If you enjoy the gallery circuit, our guides to Fear No Power at National Gallery Singapore, the In Green botanical art exhibition and When Art Meets Nature are good places to start.

The AstaGuru Singapore office is located at Winsland House II. Collectors keen on previews or advisory can reach the team through AstaGuru’s official channels.
