Planning a BTO kitchen or a bathroom refresh? The IKEA Home Design Service now covers gas appliances too. IKEA Singapore has partnered Life by City Energy, the home solutions arm of town gas provider City Energy, making it the first partner to expand the service beyond furniture and interiors.
What changes with the IKEA Home Design Service
Until now, customers who wanted gas appliances had to source them elsewhere, then return with the specifications before kitchen plans could be finalised. Under the new arrangement, an IKEA Home Design specialist stays the single point of contact and works directly with Life by City Energy’s experts. Cabinet cut-outs, appliance placement and gas-piping requirements go into the plans before renovation begins.
IKEA handles the cabinetry and appliance positioning, while Life by City Energy arranges appliance delivery, installation and gas connections. IKEA says the coordinated approach should cut the risk of mismatched specifications, installation delays and rework. Since its soft launch in 2025, the Home Design Service has helped 300 homeowners.
City Energy’s Soh Guan Hong noted that town gas is available in all new HDB flats, and that at least about 1 in 2 HDB homes using town gas also use gas water heaters, based on the company’s 2026 data. Gas hobs, cooker hoods, dryers and water heaters are displayed in the IKEA showrooms.
