Brain Tumour Society Singapore pledges S$200,000 for hospital follow-up care and reaches S$1 million milestone

The Brain Tumour Society Singapore (BTSS) is putting S$200,000 into hospital grants, and marking a S$1 million fundraising milestone and its first President’s Challenge recognition. The announcements were made on 31 October at Brainy Car Rally 2026 at Republic Polytechnic.

Brain Tumour Society Singapore: S$200,000 for follow-up care

BTSS will give S$100,000 each to the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) and the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS). The grants support clinical care coordinators who follow up with patients after hospital discharge, helping them adjust to life after surgery, navigate recovery and get guidance when new or confusing symptoms appear.

“For brain tumour patients and their families, hope is more than finding a cure. It is knowing they are not alone, having access to the care they need, and being supported to live meaningful lives beyond their diagnosis,” said BTSS President Melissa Lim.

S$1 million target and President’s Challenge

BTSS had secured S$760,000 in cash towards its S$1 million target as of 1 October 2026, with anticipated matching grants expected to bring the total to S$1 million. The funds will help sustain financial assistance, psychosocial services and hospital-based care coordination.

As a first-time President’s Challenge awardee, BTSS will receive S$210,000 over three years for programmes that help patients find employment, live purposefully and contribute to their communities.

Access to treatment remains a challenge

Newer therapies are creating possibilities for some patients, but access and affordability remain real hurdles. BTSS hopes to see continued collaboration among healthcare institutions, regulators, insurers and pharmaceutical companies so more patients can reach appropriate treatment and support.

Brainy Car Rally 2026

The rally returned after a four-year break and coincided with International Brain Tumour Awareness Week. Activities at Republic Polytechnic included a Lamborghini showcase, student music performances and a grand entrance by Lamborghini Club Singapore, before participating patients were treated to joyrides to the National University Health System for an afternoon symposium. We previewed the event earlier in Brainy Car Rally 2026: Lamborghinis roll out for brain tumour awareness.
