Japan Rail Fair opens free at Guoco Tower on 15 October, with Klook Travel Fest at Suntec on 17 and 18 October

Two free travel fairs run back to back in Singapore this week. The Japan Rail Fair, presented by JR East Business Development SEA (JR-SEABD), opens at Urban Park @ Guoco Tower on Thursday 15 October, and Klook Travel Fest follows at Suntec City Atrium on 17 and 18 October.

Japan Rail Fair at Guoco Tower

The seventh Japan Rail Fair runs from 15 to 17 October, 11am to 8pm, on the plaza in front of Japan Rail Cafe. Tanjong Pagar MRT Exit C is a minute’s walk away, and entry is free.

The booths lean towards trip planning. San’in (Tottori and Shimane), Hirosaki in Aomori, Hakodate in Hokkaido, Sendai, Azumino in Nagano, Yamaguchi, the Izu Peninsula and Kanagawa with Yokohama all have stands, alongside Kintetsu Railway, Access Tohoku, Nippon Ski Resort Development and Tokyu’s hotels between Yokohama and Izu.

Food and drink come from Isego Honten, which pours more than 20 sakes for tasting, the HINEMOS sake label, JR Fruits Park Sendai Arahama with Japanese pears, and Hokkaido dairy brand Yotsuba.

Stamps, stage shows and a cruise draw

This year’s Eki Stamp Rally has 18 stamps, each designed for the fair, and a limited-edition passbook to hold them costs S$3. Rally entries go into a draw at 7pm each day. The first 100 entrants daily get a goodie bag and add a piece to a community puzzle wall marking SJ60, 60 years of Singapore-Japan ties.

The grand prize, drawn on 17 October, is a four-day, three-night Kobe and Kochi cruise for two on ASUKA III, worth S$10,450, sailing from Kobe on 19 March 2027.

The stage has a free JR East Train Simulator game demo at 1pm on 15 October and 2pm on 16 October. The mayor of Hakodate and the vice-mayor of Hirosaki present a two-city itinerary on 15 October, and NUS students lead a Bon Odori dance that evening at 6.30pm.

Klook Travel Fest at Suntec

Klook’s Flee Market edition runs on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October, 10am to 9pm, at Suntec City Atrium between Towers 1 and 2. Entry is free with an entrance pass booked on Klook, and showing it on site gets a free Yeo’s drink and a Shopee voucher of up to S$50.

The first 150 visitors each day receive a goodie bag with a chance at Golden Ticket prizes. Flash deals include 1-for-1 tickets to Shanghai Disneyland and Universal Studios Japan, with event-only savings of up to S$300 and destination deals for Japan, China, Korea and Vietnam.

Daily lucky draws hold up to S$30,000 in prizes, including one million yuu Points and flights to Tokyo. Zones for Japan, China, Southeast Asia and Australia run games and activities, while Klook’s creators give travel talks and lead craft workshops on stage.
