Two wins, five goals, none conceded

Singapore opened the group on 5 October with a 1-0 win over Saudi Arabia, settled by Amelia Tan’s first-half goal on a hazy evening at Bishan. It was a tight start. Three nights later the side looked far more sure of itself.

Against Bahrain on 8 October, the hosts took a while to find their rhythm before Amelia scored in the 16th minute. Nur Ain Salleh, who made chances around the penalty area all night, then picked out Verona Lim, who finished into the top left corner in the 42nd minute for a 2-0 lead at the break.

Bahrain pushed after half-time, but Singapore held their shape. Amelia got her second in the 67th minute, and Kylie Loo ended it with a long-range shot into the bottom right corner five minutes from time. That made it 4-0, and five goals scored with none conceded across the first two matches.

Indonesia came late against Saudi Arabia

Indonesia’s own six points came the hard way. Their match against Saudi Arabia on 8 October was goalless at half-time. Substitute Nafeeza Ayasha Nori scored in the 66th minute, Sadeya Mohamed Obid equalised for Saudi Arabia in the 83rd, and Nori struck again three minutes later. Fadilla, another substitute, added a third in the 89th minute for a 3-1 win.

“Indonesia are a strong side, and we know it will be a challenging match,” head coach Angeline Chua said after the Bahrain win. “The players understand the importance of this match, and we want to put in a performance that Singapore can be proud of.”

What is at stake in China

Only the group winner goes through. The finals in China already have four teams from the 2026 edition: DPR Korea, Japan, Australia and China PR.

Captain Auni Shellah said before the tournament that home support from friends and family mattered to the squad, and Verona said after the Bahrain match that the Bishan crowd “gave us real energy”.

Free entry at Bishan

Entry is free for fans who follow FAS’s official Instagram account, and they need to show they follow it at the gate. The match falls on the last day of Women’s Football Week, which has run since 3 October.

Kick-off at Bishan Stadium is 8pm.
