Singapore’s Skills and Workforce Development Agency Bill sets up SWDA as a new statutory board formed through the merger of SkillsFuture Singapore and Workforce Singapore.
MOM says SWDA will be jointly overseen by MOM and MOE, with WSG chief executive Dilys Boey appointed as chief executive of the new agency.
Why It Matters
For workers, the merger points to a more connected jobs-and-skills system. Instead of treating training and employment support as separate tracks, SWDA is meant to bring both sides closer together.
For employers, the change should matter when they look for hiring support, workforce transformation help or skills programmes linked to business needs.
What To Watch
The real test will be whether users experience fewer handoffs and clearer pathways. Watch for updated portals, programme names and employer-facing support after the agency begins operations.
The agency structure is set out in MOM’s SWDA factsheet.
