Western Sydney International Airport opens to passengers on Sunday 25 October, and Singapore Airlines starts a daily Changi service there on 23 November. SQ261 leaves Changi at 11.30am and lands at Western Sydney at 10.20pm, with SQ262 leaving at 11.55pm and reaching Singapore at 5.15am the next day.
The new airport, named Nancy-Bird Walton, sits at Luddenham in Sydney’s west. It is curfew-free and will run 24 hours a day.

What changes for Singapore travellers
The SIA flight adds a fifth daily service between Singapore and Sydney when counted with the airline’s flights into Kingsford Smith. Both timings are subject to regulatory approval.
The overnight return is the useful part. SQ262 leaves Western Sydney at 11.55pm and lands at Changi at 5.15am, early enough for a working day in Singapore or an onward connection.
SIA is selling Early Bird fares from Australia until 29 October, from AUD 787 to Singapore, AUD 947 to Mumbai and AUD 1,644 to London. They are priced for journeys that start in Australia, which makes them more useful to family and friends flying in than to travellers leaving from Changi.
Who else flies from Western Sydney
Jetstar operates the first flight, an A320 to the Gold Coast at 11am on 25 October. It will run up to 14 flights a week to Melbourne, four to the Gold Coast and three to Brisbane. Air New Zealand starts Auckland flights on 26 October, and Qantas follows from 28 March 2027.
The Australian Government expects the airport to handle up to 10 million passengers a year.
Getting from the airport
A free shuttle runs to St Marys interchange every 30 minutes; the trip takes 30 minutes. It runs from 4.30am to midnight from Sunday to Thursday, and from 4.30am to 1am on Friday and Saturday. The shuttle runs past midnight every night, so the 10.20pm SQ261 arrival falls inside its hours.
Public buses run every 30 minutes from 5am to 10pm to Penrith, Leppington, Liverpool, Campbelltown and Mount Druitt. Super Shuttle runs transfers to Parramatta, the Sydney CBD and Kingsford Smith. The airport has more than 6,000 car parking spaces and is reached by the toll-free M12 motorway.
A Sydney Metro line to St Marys, 23 km and 15 minutes, is due in 2027.
