Singapore’s love affair with racquet sports has a striking new home. UBS has teamed up with Gardens by the Bay to launch Padel at the Gardens, the first padel event of its kind in Singapore, transforming the West Lawn into a vibrant community court set against the backdrop of the iconic Supertrees.
Running from September through October, the custom-built courts invite people of all ages and abilities to try one of the world’s fastest-growing sports. The official opening ceremony was held on 18 September 2026, with Senior Parliamentary Secretary Syed Harun Alhabsyi joining community players for a friendly game.
Free public play from 19 September to 11 October
Here’s the best part for Singapore families: open play sessions and complimentary public court bookings are available from 19 September to 11 October. Bookings open at 8am SGT on 19 September at gardensbythebay.com.sg/padel on a first-come, first-served basis, with padel equipment available for rental.
If you have never picked up a padel racquet, this is a low-pressure way to start. Played as doubles on an enclosed glass court, padel blends the best of tennis and squash, with surrounding walls keeping the ball in play for longer rallies and plenty of laughs.
Part of UBS’s regional Padel Series
Padel at the Gardens is the latest stop in UBS’s regional Padel Series, which has brought the sport to landmark venues across Asia Pacific, including Padel Central in Hong Kong at Victoria Harbour and Australia’s Padel Invitational at the Sydney Opera House.
Singapore’s National Padel players led coaching sessions for the community during the launch, reflecting the shared aim of using sport to strengthen local bonds. As a firm that has been part of Singapore’s story for more than 60 years, UBS has previously brought the likes of Formula One driver George Russell, Masters champion Sergio Garcia and football legend Thierry Henry together with local talent through its Craft of Sport initiative.
Padel, by the numbers
According to the International Padel Federation, padel is now played by more than 38 million people across over 170 countries, with participation expected to top 105 million by 2030. Its easy learning curve and social, doubles-based format have made it a runaway hit worldwide, and Singapore is clearly ready to join in.
