Spurs still searching for a first goal

Roberto De Zerbi’s side sit 18th after three games with one point and no goals scored, one of only two Premier League clubs yet to find the net alongside Aston Villa. Their sole point came from a 0-0 draw at Nottingham Forest after a late Neco Williams strike was ruled out for handball by VAR.

De Zerbi has made eight starting XI changes across the opening three league fixtures, the most of any manager so far. Club team news also lists Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons as unavailable. James Maddison is back in the frame after a shoulder problem.

Everton arrive unbeaten on five points

Everton sit eighth with five points from one win and two draws. Their last outing finished 2-2 at Manchester United, where deadline-day signing Ainsley Maitland-Niles scored a 96th-minute equaliser, his first Premier League goal in nearly eight years.

BBC Sport reports Tottenham have lost only one of their last 17 Premier League home games against Everton (12 wins, four draws) and have never previously failed to score in any of their first four league games of a campaign.
