Singapore’s first F1 Sprint weekend runs from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 October. The Singapore Grand Prix schedule puts the Sprint at 5pm on Saturday and the Grand Prix at 8pm on Sunday, with JJ Lin, The Killers and Lana Del Rey closing each night on the Padang. Away from the circuit, the National Museum reopens its Singapore History Gallery on Saturday with free entry for everyone until Monday, Sunflower Surprise opens in the Flower Dome on Friday, and the Kusu pilgrimage season starts on Saturday. Here are 28 picks across the three days, more than half of them free.

Haze check. The National Environment Agency forecast the 24-hour PSI to stay in the Unhealthy range, with smoke from Sumatra and Kalimantan carried in on southerly winds. At 5am on Thursday the 24-hour PSI ran from 114 in the north to 162 in the west. NEA advises healthy people to cut down on prolonged or strenuous outdoor exertion when the PSI is Unhealthy; use the 24-hour forecast to plan tomorrow and the 1-hour PM2.5 reading on haze.gov.sg before you head out. Each pick below says whether it is indoors or outdoors, so a hazy afternoon can switch to the Flower Dome, the museum or a mall atrium.
