The Story of Studio Ghibli opens at Gardens by the Bay on 18 December

The Story of Studio Ghibli, an immersive walk-through exhibition, opens on the West Lawn at Gardens by the Bay on Friday, 18 December 2026 and runs until Sunday, 4 July 2027, on Gardens by the Bay’s website. It covers nearly 3,500 square metres and recreates 12 scenes from Studio Ghibli’s films.

Inside the 12 scenes

Visitors step into moments fans know well and wander at their own pace. The rain-soaked bus stop from My Neighbor Totoro has Totoro waiting beside you, with the Catbus seemingly moments away.

The centrepiece is an eight-metre-tall bathhouse from Spirited Away, the first of its kind in the world. Inside a humming boiler room, Kamaji’s many hands work the endless drawers. Elsewhere, visitors push open the wooden door of the Guchokipanya Bakery from Kiki’s Delivery Service and set off on their own delivery run.

No Face also makes an appearance. A fortune coin bundle, sold only online with a ticket, lets visitors have their fortune told and take home a talisman, on the exhibition’s website.

Getting there

The exhibition sits on the West Lawn, beside Active Garden, at 18 Marina Gardens Drive. From Bayfront MRT station, a sheltered underground linkway leads to the Supertree Grove, and signs point the way from there. Marina Bay Sands is a five to 10 minute walk away via the Dragonfly Bridge. The nearest drop-off is Bayfront Plaza, and parking is available at the Gardens.
