Sushiro opens at Bukit Panjang Plaza with 1-for-1 sushi to 12 November

Bukit Panjang finally has its own Sushiro. The Japanese conveyor-belt chain’s newest outlet sits on the second floor of Bukit Panjang Plaza, and it comes with two weeks of 1-for-1 sushi and S$6++ drinks to pull in the neighbourhood. If you live in the north-west and have been taking the bus to Lot One in Choa Chu Kang or Causeway Point in Woodlands for your salmon plates, this one is for you.

What the grand opening deals cover

The opening promotion runs from 30 October to 12 November. Sushi goes 1-for-1, and the second portion arrives on the same plate rather than as a separate plate on the belt, so one plate carries double the sushi. Ask the staff which plates are in the deal on the day you go.

Three drinks drop to S$6++ each for the same two weeks:

  • Lemon sour, usually S$8++
  • Suntory The Premium Malt’s draught beer, usually S$10.50++
  • Kaku highball, usually S$9++

The sure-win gachapon for diners spending S$50 or more was an opening-day special on 30 October only, so that one has come and gone.

The limited menu running alongside

Bukit Panjang opens in the middle of the second part of Sushiro’s October limited menu, which runs at every outlet until 3 November while stocks last. The headline plates are the Miyako salmon trout taste and compare from Japan’s Sanriku Rias coast at S$2.90++ and a fatty swordfish at S$2.90++.

The rest of the line-up leans on soy sauce koji, a fermented seasoning of soy sauce and koji, across four fish:

  • Soy sauce koji fresh salmon, S$2.90++
  • Soy sauce koji engawa, S$2.30++
  • Soy sauce koji yellowtail, S$3.90++
  • Soy sauce koji red snapper, S$4.90++

Pufferfish fans get two fugu plates at S$4.90++ each, and the bancha braised octopus uses Hokkaido mizudako at S$3.90++. Prices differ at the Digiro outlet in Mandai Wildlife Reserve.

Where Sushiro goes next

Bukit Panjang is the first of three new Sushiro outlets on the calendar. Great World follows at the end of November at #01-112/113/114, and Funan comes next in early December at #02-16. Taste Orchard, on the other hand, has closed for good, which leaves Wisma Atria, Isetan Scotts and Orchard Gateway as the Orchard Road options. Parkway Parade is temporarily closed.

App reservations for Bukit Panjang opened on 24 October, and booking ahead through the Sushiro app is the sensible move for a new outlet in its first weekends.
