Leylah Fernandez meets Australia’s Talia Gibson in the Singapore Tennis Open final on Sunday, 27 September 2026 at OCBC Arena, The Kallang, not before 5pm, a first career meeting between the two in Fernandez’s first final of the season and Gibson’s first at tour level.
No. 6 seed Fernandez recovered from a lost first set on Saturday to beat No. 5 Maja Chwalinska 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 in 2 hours 8 minutes. Chwalinska took the opening five games and a stretch of 15 straight points before Fernandez reset, then attacked the net 37 times and finished with 31 winners.
Gibson reaches the final by walkover
Gibson advanced when Tatiana Prozorova withdrew with a concussion, handing the Australian a walkover into Sunday’s title match. Fernandez is into the ninth final of her career and has five WTA singles titles, all on hard courts.
Fernandez said of Gibson: “It’s our first finals of the year for both of us, so it’s not going to be easy. We both want the trophy, I just know she hits the ball very hard. She’s super aggressive.”
