The Ministry of Manpower has gazetted Singapore’s 11 public holidays for 2027, and the calendar yields five clear long weekends plus two Thursday holidays that suit a Friday leave bridge.
New Year’s Day falls on Friday 1 January. Chinese New Year lands on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 February, with Monday 8 February also a public holiday. Good Friday is Friday 26 March. Hari Raya Haji is Monday 17 May. National Day is Monday 9 August. Those five blocks already give Friday-to-Monday or Saturday-to-Monday stretches without using annual leave.
Thursday bridges
Vesak Day is Thursday 20 May and Deepavali is Thursday 28 October. A single Friday of leave turns either into a four-day break. Hari Raya Puasa is Wednesday 10 March, Labour Day is Saturday 1 May and Christmas Day is Saturday 25 December, so those sit differently on a leave planner.
MOE school year 2027
The Ministry of Education set the 2027 year for MOE kindergartens, primary and secondary schools from Monday 4 January to Friday 19 November. Primary 1 and Kindergarten 1 start on 4 January; Primary 2 to 6 and Kindergarten 2 start on Tuesday 5 January.
Term breaks for MK, primary and secondary are 13 to 21 March, 29 May to 27 June, and 4 to 12 September, with the year-end holiday from 20 November to 31 December. Children’s Day is Friday 8 October for primary schools and primary sections of full schools only. Schools also close on Tuesday 9 February, Monday 3 May and Monday 27 December, MOE’s off-in-lieu days for Chinese New Year, Labour Day and Christmas falling on weekends. Scheduled school holidays are Monday 5 July (Youth Day), Tuesday 10 August (the day after National Day) and Friday 3 September (Teachers’ Day), giving schools a four-day National Day break from Saturday 7 to Tuesday 10 August.
What is left in 2026
Before the new list starts, Deepavali’s holiday for 2026 is Monday 9 November and Christmas Day is Friday 25 December. Employees covered by the Employment Act remain entitled to the 11 paid public holidays, and those required to work on one get an extra day’s basic pay, or by agreement a replacement holiday or, for managers, executives and some higher earners, time off in lieu.
