Postcards From My Darling Love At Objectifs: Free Ripple Root Show

Ripple Root is bringing Postcards From My Darling Love to Objectifs from 18 to 28 June 2026, turning a 1965 Singapore film into a fresh series of paintings and mixed-media works.

The free exhibition is staged at Objectifs Lower Galleries 1 & 2. For readers looking for a compact arts stop in the Bras Basah area, it is an easy add-on because Objectifs lists free admission, an opening reception and a separate artist talk.

What The Show Is About

Objectifs says the exhibition is inspired by Chinta Kasih Sayang, also known as My Darling Love, directed by Hussein Haniff. Ripple Root uses the film as a springboard for works that revisit Singapore backdrops such as Haw Par Villa, East Coast Park, Chinese Gardens and Tanjong Pagar Railway Station.

The angle is nostalgic without being purely archival. The artist duo reinterprets scenes with colour, mixed media, text, subtitles and a cinematic sense of framing.

  • Exhibition dates: 18 to 28 June 2026.
  • Venue: Objectifs Lower Galleries 1 & 2.
  • Admission: free.
  • Opening reception: Thursday, 18 June, 7pm to 9pm.
  • Artist talk: Saturday, 27 June, 2pm, free admission.

Why It Is Singapore-Specific

The show is rooted in local film memory and familiar landscapes rather than a neutral gallery theme. That makes it useful for viewers who enjoy seeing Singapore locations reframed through contemporary art.

Ripple Root is the artist moniker of Liquan Liew and Estella Ng. Objectifs notes that their work is often drawn from nature in Singapore, with a light, optimistic visual language that contrasts with the city’s concrete pace.

Planning Notes

Objectifs lists gallery and retail opening hours as Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 7pm, and Sunday, noon to 4pm, with closures on Mondays and public holidays. If you are planning around the opening reception or artist talk, register early where required.
