NLB Early READ Fiesta tours four libraries from 13 November

The National Library Board’s Early READ Fiesta returns from 13 November with a four-library tour for children up to six and their older siblings, under this season’s theme, Where Reading Meets Discovery. Each stop runs from 10am to 5pm.

Where and when

  • Woodlands Library: Friday 13 and Saturday 14 November 2026
  • Punggol Library: Saturday 21 November 2026
  • Central Library: Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December 2026
  • Jurong Library: Friday 19 and Saturday 20 March 2027

Two of the four stops include a Friday, for families who prefer a weekday visit. The Jurong dates fall in March 2027, so families in the west have the longest lead time.

What children do there

The fiesta is built as a route through the library. Children move through interactive stations and booths, and there is a separate line-up of storytelling programmes. Families who complete all the steps can redeem a gift at the redemption booth at the end.

The booths are designed for children aged up to six, but older siblings are welcome, so a seven-year-old does not have to sit out while the younger one plays.

Booking and attendance

The activity booths need no registration. The storytelling programmes are different: each has its own registration, set out at go.gov.sg/erfiestaprogrammes2627.

NLB takes attendance through the NLB Mobile app. Download or update the app before the day, and add your child’s profile to your account at home, so their attendance goes in with yours when you scan the QR code at the entrance.

For programmes, a parent or caregiver must stay with the child throughout. Aim to arrive 10 minutes before the session starts, because seats can go to walk-in families if you are late.

ReadSG bonus coins

On 14 and 21 November only, the ReadSG Challenge booth at the fiesta gives out bonus coins. The ReadSG Challenge is NLB’s family reading habit programme, run at read.gov.sg, so families already logging books there have a reason to pick Woodlands on the Saturday or Punggol.

For families who need more planning

NLB publishes wheelchair-friendly bus and MRT routes and social stories for each library at go.gov.sg/wheelchair-friendly-routes-social-stories. A social story walks a child through what the visit will look and sound like before the day, which helps children who find crowds or new places hard.

NLB photographs and films its programmes for publicity and archives, and taking part counts as consent. Families who would rather keep a child off camera should raise it with library staff on arrival.

If a date is cancelled for unforeseen reasons, NLB will post updates at the affected library through posters and announcements.
