Education Minister Desmond Lee said at the Schools Work Plan Seminar on 16 September 2026 that MOE will pilot two classroom shifts from January 2027 and roll out Teacher Workspace to every MOE school by 2027.
About 1,900 school leaders and teachers gathered for the seminar under the theme “Growing Holistically, Teaching Purposefully”. The work sits alongside MOE’s wider push on 21st Century Competencies and social-emotional learning.
Two shifts in six pilot schools
From January 2027, three primary and three secondary schools will test learner-centred teaching and more purposeful feedback, plus ways to free time and space for those approaches. The schools are St Anthony’s Canossian Primary, Woodgrove Primary, Zhangde Primary, Commonwealth Secondary, Deyi Secondary and Jurongville Secondary.
On learning, MOE wants more inquiry-based and collaborative work, clearer guidance on which marking forms help students most, and better use of technology in feedback. On classrooms, it will look at flexible furniture and spaces, smaller classes where they help most, technology that cuts admin, and how teachers’ non-classroom duties are organised.
Teacher Workspace by 2027
Teacher Workspace is an MOE platform that pulls student information, tools and daily workflows into one place so teachers spend less time jumping between systems. MOE will roll it out to all MOE schools by 2027, with features added in stages.
MOE will work with the six pilots before deciding what spreads more widely. The duty-mix study and the Teacher Workspace roll-out are separate tracks under the same work plan.
