Everton rescued a 2-2 Premier League draw with Manchester United at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday (6 September 2026) when Ainsley Maitland-Niles curled in a stoppage-time equaliser on his Toffees debut. Sky Sports timed the strike at 95:11, the latest home goal scored at the ground, after United had led twice through Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.
United lead twice
Mbeumo broke the deadlock 61 seconds after the restart with a solo run and finish into the bottom corner. Everton answered in the 83rd minute when Tyrique George smashed a near-post shot past Senne Lammens. Sesko then headed Luke Shaw’s cross beyond Jordan Pickford in the 88th minute to put the visitors back in front.
United had already rattled the woodwork in the first half, with Bruno Fernandes volleying against the bar from Mbeumo’s header. Everton’s Thierno Barry headed over from Merlin Rohl’s delivery before the break.
Debut strike settles it
Maitland-Niles, signed from Lyon on deadline day, came off the bench and struck from about 25 yards, curling a first-time shot into the top corner. Sky Sports noted he is the first Everton player to score on his debut since Richarlison in August 2018.
Jack Grealish, back on loan at Everton, entered in the second half and helped the hosts push. United have now conceded two or more goals in each of their first three league matches this season.
Point apiece
David Moyes said the equaliser was a big moment for the crowd but that he had set out to win. Michael Carrick said United put themselves in a position to take three points and were hurt to let the lead slip. The draw leaves both sides still searching for a first away or home win of the new campaign.
