Changi Airport’s security and baggage restrictions page now carries a clear reminder for travellers: new power-bank safety restrictions apply to flights departing Singapore from 15 April 2026. Power banks must be carried in hand-carry luggage, so cabin crew and passengers can respond quickly if there is a battery incident.
This is one of those small packing rules that can become a costly airport delay if you only remember it at check-in.

How To Pack Batteries
Keep power banks and spare lithium batteries in your cabin bag, not checked luggage. Make sure the power rating is visible on the device, because airlines may ask about watt-hour limits or reject unlabelled units.
Do not use damaged, swollen or unusually hot devices. If you are travelling with several family members, spread devices across cabin bags instead of stuffing all batteries into one pouch that is hard to inspect.

Other Items To Recheck
Changi’s page also groups restricted items such as sharp objects, blunt objects, corrosives and toxic chemicals. The simple rule: if it can injure someone, ignite, leak or trigger a security concern, check the airport and airline rules before packing.
