Singapore is set to get its most ambitious wellness destination yet. On 19 June 2026, Therme Group — the global developer behind large-scale wellbeing destinations in Europe — broke ground on Therme Singapore, marking the beginning of construction on what will be Asia’s first large-scale integrated urban wellbeing destination when it opens at Marina South in 2030.
The groundbreaking ceremony was officiated by Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations Grace Fu, underscoring the project’s significance to Singapore’s tourism and urban development ambitions.
What Is Therme Singapore?
Spanning over 720,000 sq ft of gross floor area — the equivalent of more than nine football fields — Therme Singapore will be a seven-storey development (with a basement) that integrates leisure, nature, and wellness under one roof. Think of it as a world-class aquatic and wellness resort, permanently anchored in Singapore’s cityscape.

Three Zones, One Destination
The visitor experience at Therme Singapore is designed around three distinct zones:
- Play — Active, family-friendly water attractions including children’s pools and 18 water slides spanning more than 1.8 kilometres in total length.
- Relax — Thermal pools, therapeutic mineral baths, hydromassage beds, and infrared therapy for those seeking quieter respite.
- Restore — A dedicated space for deeper wellbeing, featuring saunas, steam rooms, and massage treatment spaces.
In total, the development will feature more than 20 indoor and outdoor pools and water bodies, over 70 wellness treatment rooms, and more than 86,000 sq ft of food-and-beverage offerings — all with sea views.

A Green Heart at Marina South
Nature is central to the design. Therme Singapore will feature more than 200,000 plants across over 200 species, including orchids and native Southeast Asian varieties woven into immersive indoor and outdoor landscapes. Beyond the building itself, a coastal public park spanning almost 4 hectares will connect Therme Singapore to Marina Barrage, opening up a new stretch of green waterfront for everyone to enjoy.
The project is developed by Therme Group in partnership with Kajima Overseas Asia (Singapore) and designed by DP Architects in collaboration with Therme Group’s in-house architects, Therme ARC. Sustainability measures will include solar photovoltaic panels, smart irrigation technologies, and advanced ozone-based water filtration systems. Visitors can also look forward to waterproof RFID wristbands for cashless payments and a next-generation robotic locker system.
Jobs and Skills Development
Beyond the visitor experience, Therme Singapore expects to create around 400 new jobs, spanning roles in construction, engineering, facilities management, operations, and hospitality — including the distinctive role of sauna masters, known as Aufgussmeisters. The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute of Technical Education and Republic Polytechnic to develop training pathways, internships, and employment opportunities for graduates.
Robert Hanea, Founder and CEO of Therme Group, said: “Singapore’s commitment to long-term urban planning, innovation and world-class public spaces makes it a natural home for this vision. As our first destination in Asia, Therme Singapore will serve as a gateway for regional growth to develop partnerships, capabilities and models that can be scaled across Asia and beyond.”
Therme Singapore is slated to open in 2030. Keep your eyes on this space — it’s shaping up to be one of Singapore’s most exciting upcoming landmarks.
