Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 at Emirates Stadium on Sunday (6 September 2026), coming from behind to make it three Premier League wins from three and nine points from nine. Morgan Rogers opened after about two minutes, Kai Havertz equalised at 25 minutes and Martin Odegaard won it at 50 minutes.
Rogers stuns the Emirates early
Chelsea led after 77 seconds. A Reece James free-kick turned into a scramble, and Rogers volleyed low past David Raya from the edge of the box. It was Arsenal’s first league goal conceded this season and the earliest the champions had let in since August 2023.
Riccardo Calafiori thought he had levelled from a Declan Rice free-kick melee, but VAR ruled an offside in the build-up. Bukayo Saka and Havertz both tested Emiliano Martinez before Arsenal found the equaliser.
Havertz equals, Odegaard wins it
Havertz cut inside from the right and drove a low shot past Martinez at the near post in the 25th minute. It was his third Premier League goal of the campaign and his fourth for Arsenal against his former club.
Five minutes after the restart, Christos Tzolis slipped a pass into the box. Havertz dummied, Odegaard arrived late and finished past Martinez for 2-1. Late on, Martinez denied Saka and Raya tipped Estevao’s curling shot over the bar to protect the points.
Perfect start stays intact
Arsenal sit on a 3-0-0 record and nine points after Matchweek 3, level with Manchester City on points among the early perfect starts. Chelsea fall to 2-0-1 and six points, ending Xabi Alonso’s unbeaten league start.
Arsenal next open their Champions League group stage at Napoli midweek, then visit Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday.
