The Asian Civilisations Museum brings back its free family series ACM Adventures on Sunday, 27 September 2026, and this edition is titled Patterns & Prints. Running from 11am to 4pm, the day invites children to dive into a kaleidoscope of motifs and colours, with crafts, drama, storytelling and kids’ tours inspired by objects from Crosscurrents: Masterpieces of Mughal, Safavid, and Ottoman Art from the Musée du Louvre.
Free crafts, drama and storytelling
The centrepiece is Get Crafty with ART:DIS, on from 11am to 4pm in the River Room on Level 2. ART:DIS STUDIO artists Hairi and Emma guide young makers through specially designed stamp templates, so each child can ink, press, peel and take home a print that is entirely their own. It is free and suitable for ages 4 and above with parental guidance, while supplies last.
Over at the same River Room, Move it! Interactive Drama Performance plays at 11.30am and 2pm. Led by an ancient tree spirit, the Lunch Bunch troupe spins a playful tale about the beauty of slowing down and noticing the colours and patterns all around us. It is free for ages 4 and above.
At 1.30pm, Story Time in the Galleries moves into the Islamic Art Gallery on Level 2, where storyteller Shahril Samri introduces Bunga, a tiny floral motif on a big journey across empires and oceans. Through drama, movement and rhythm, children help Bunga leave its mark on textiles, ceramics and other treasures. The session is free for ages 5 and above with parental guidance, though gallery admission applies.
Curator tour and Tiny Explorers
Families who want to go deeper can join the Crosscurrents Curator Tour for Kids at 11am, meeting at the Lobby on Level 1. Curator Noorashikin Zulkifli leads a child-friendly walk through the Louvre masterpieces, pointing out surprising links to Southeast Asia. It suits ages 6 and above and needs a $10 refundable deposit per parent-child pair, plus gallery admission. Registration is required.
The littlest visitors get their own experience with Tiny Explorers at ACM & Me, held at 2pm and 3pm in the ACM & Me space in the Contemporary Gallery on Level 1. The Current, by Open Score Project, is an immersive music and movement adventure with a harpist, flautist and movement artist, designed for toddlers aged 18 months to 4 years. It needs a $10 refundable deposit per parent-child pair, $5 per additional adult, plus gallery admission, and registration is required.
Admission and getting there
Most programmes are free, while the curator tour, Tiny Explorers and gallery-based sessions require gallery admission and, in some cases, a small refundable deposit. Singapore citizens and permanent residents enter the permanent galleries free, and the Crosscurrents special exhibition is separately ticketed, so check the ACM website for the latest rates and to register for the ticketed sessions. The museum is open daily from 10am to 7pm, and until 9pm on Fridays.
