Downtown East Christmas 2026: free piñata smash, bubble shows and a candy village from 16 November

Downtown East Christmas 2026 is called A Sweet Christmas, and it runs from 16 November to 31 December 2026 at the Pasir Ris lifestyle hub. Expect candy decor, a weekend Christmas market, free bubble shows and a lollipop piñata that kids aged 12 and below can smash for prizes. Most of the programme costs nothing to watch, which is good news for parents staring down six weeks of year-end school holidays that start on 21 November.

Below are the dates worth putting in the family calendar, plus the free Christmas Fest on 4 and 5 December and the gift-with-purchase rules, all checked against Downtown East’s official event page.

Downtown East Christmas 2026 dates at a glance

The action sits mostly at Event Square on E!Avenue, which Downtown East is turning into a candy-themed Christmas village. Here is the full schedule as published:

  • Christmas market by T.Cartel: every Friday to Sunday from 20 November to 20 December, 12pm to 8pm
  • Acoustic performances at 12pm on 21 and 28 November, then 5, 12 and 19 December
  • Piñata Smash at 12pm on 22 and 29 November, then 6, 13 and 20 December (all Sundays)
  • Bubble shows at 7pm on 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20 December
  • Christmas carolling at 6.30pm and 7.30pm on 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 24 and 25 December

If you only have one evening, go on a December Saturday or Sunday between 6pm and 8pm. That window catches the market, a bubble show and two carolling sets in one trip.

What kids can win at the Piñata Smash

This is the part my nephew would queue for. Children aged 12 and below take a swing at a giant lollipop piñata, and the prizes listed by Downtown East are not just sweets.

  • a Wild Wild Wet Adult Day Pass (worth S$39)
  • S$50 or S$100 NTUC Club vouchers
  • a PLAYON single admission pass (worth S$29)
  • Tayo Station entry passes (worth S$31.90)

Every session starts at 12pm on a Sunday. Downtown East has not said how many children get a turn per session, so arriving 15 to 20 minutes early is the kiasu but sensible move.

Christmas Fest @ Downtown East on 4 and 5 December is free

Separate from the candy programme, a community Christmas Fest takes over Begonia Terrace for two evenings. Entry is free and so are most of the booths, organised by a group of local churches with Downtown East as partner.

  • Friday, 4 December 2026: 6.30pm to 8.30pm
  • Saturday, 5 December 2026: 5.30pm to 8.30pm
  • Free carnival games with prizes, a bouncy castle and craft activities for kids
  • Free ice cream, candy floss and popcorn while stocks last
  • A Christmas market and food stalls, which are the only paid parts

The Saturday is the one to target. You can do Christmas Fest from 5.30pm, then walk over to Event Square for the 7pm bubble show and the 7.30pm carols. Details are on the Christmas Fest page.

Wild Wild Wet gets candy floats and free ice cream

Over at Wild Wild Wet, the water park is adding giant candy floats and themed photo spots. Each Day Pass bought during the event comes with a scoop of Lickers ice cream topped with marshmallow, rainbow wafer and gummy bears.

School holidays count as peak days, so the park opens 11am to 6pm with last admission at 5pm. It is closed on Tuesdays, so check the official Wild Wild Wet page before promising the kids a splash day.

Gift with purchase: mini piñata or thermal lunch bag

From 16 November to 31 December, same-day receipts from Downtown East outlets can be swapped for a festive freebie at the E!Avenue Level 2 Information Counter (10am to 9.30pm). You can combine up to two receipts per redemption.

  • Mini piñata: S$70 spend for NTUC members or S$80 for the public, or S$140 and S$160 on NTUC FairPrice receipts
  • Thermal lunch box carrier in red or green: S$130 for members or S$140 for the public, or S$260 and S$280 on FairPrice receipts
  • One of each item per person per day, while stocks last

Receipts from atrium fairs, pushcarts, D’Resort, AXS, Singapore Pools, voucher purchases and card top-ups do not count. A family grocery run at FairPrice plus lunch could plausibly hit the piñata tier, so keep those slips. Full terms are on the promotion page.

Getting to Downtown East

Downtown East is at 1 Pasir Ris Close, Singapore 519599, about a 10-minute walk from Pasir Ris MRT. A free daily shuttle runs from the MRT station, and bus services 3, 5, 6, 12, 17, 21, 89, 354 and 358 stop nearby, according to the getting-here page.

Downtown East is also offering S$10 off TADA rides during the event, handy if you are hauling a stroller home after the carols. Planning a bigger festive weekend? Pair it with one of the Christmas markets around Singapore this year, or with Zoolympix at Mandai if the kids still have energy left.
