Woodlands will get a new kind of library space. Frasers Centrepoint Trust (FCT) and the National Library Board (NLB) have signed a memorandum of understanding to create The HomePage @ Causeway Point, which the two partners describe as a first-of-its-kind social and reading destination.
The space is expected to open in 2028. It will take up 32,000 sq ft across parts of Levels 6 and 7 of the mall, set inside a triple-volume space under URA’s Community and Sports Facilities Scheme.

Books you can take home
One of the more unusual features: visitors will be able to take home pre-loved books from NLB in English and the Mother Tongue languages, without having to borrow them. There will also be a Sing Lit showcase curated with the National Arts Council, food and drink within the reading space, children’s play zones, and an indoor theatre and screening space.
The design draws on the Teck Whye HDB blocks, the former National Library building on Stamford Road and 1970s Brutalist architecture.

Zones planned inside
The plans name several zones. The Story Spine is a triple-volume book wall that starts at the Level 5 entrance and runs up through Levels 6 and 7. The Drum combines a café, books, the Social Steps and a reading zone. The Social Steps are a terraced seating area meant to work as a public living room. A curved Sing Lit bookshelf will carry timelines of Singapore writing, and The Tree House will be the children’s space.
The Red Brick links to a social dining hall and takes its cue from the “Lady in Red”, the red brick building of the old National Library. All visuals released so far are artist’s impressions.

Part of a wider mall makeover
The HomePage sits within a larger asset enhancement of Causeway Point, which starts in the second quarter of 2027 and is due to finish by the end of 2029. The mall spans 425,000 sq ft with close to 250 stores, and connects to Woodlands MRT station on the North South and Thomson-East Coast lines as well as the Woodlands bus interchange.
NLB already runs libraries in other FCT malls, including Yishun Library at Northpoint City and Serangoon Library at NEX. Cheng San Library at Hougang Mall is being revamped and reopens in the first half of 2027, while Sit-n-Read Nodes operate at Century Square and Waterway Point.

Richard Ng, chief executive of the FCT manager, and Melissa Tam, chief executive of NLB, both backed the project in the joint release, with the partners pitching it as a place for reading and community life in the north.
