President’s Award for Teachers 2027

PAT recognises experienced educators who are role models for the teaching profession. They adopt innovative approaches in their lessons, are lifelong learners and mentor their peers. The award looks for a deep passion for teaching and the ability to inspire students and peers through words and deeds. It is open to teachers in primary schools, secondary schools, junior colleges and Millennia Institute, as well as educators at ITE, the polytechnics and the National Institute of Early Childhood Development. Since 1998 it has recognised more than 150 educators for their teaching excellence, dedication and hard work. A panel with representatives from MOE, the post-secondary institutions and COMPASS picks the winners from a shortlist of finalists. In 2026, 5,125 educators from 308 schools and seven post-secondary institutions were nominated, and the recipients were chosen from 18 finalists. Recipients join an overseas learning programme, and finalists receive a grant for conferences or courses.

Outstanding Young Educators’ Award 2027

OYEA, formerly the Outstanding Youth in Education Award, recognises young teachers aged 35 and below who are inspiring role models for the profession. It looks for youthful idealism, energy and enthusiasm that inspire students and peers through words and deeds. Nominees must be in service at a primary school, secondary school, junior college or Millennia Institute. Since 1999 more than 120 outstanding young educators have received the award.
