Lion City Sailors came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Hougang United at Bishan Stadium on 12 September 2026, earning a point in their Singapore Premier League opener.
Ayman Kassimi cut inside from the left and drove Hougang ahead in the 17th minute. Oakley Cannonier made it 2-0 five minutes later after Zulqarnaen Suzliman’s run. Antonio Mance chested down Diogo Costa’s cross and finished before half-time. Bobby Adekanye lifted a calm finish past Takahiro Koga in the 87th minute to complete the comeback for the defending champions.
First league goals for both former Liverpool youth players
Cannonier and Adekanye, both former Liverpool youth players, scored their first league goals for their new clubs. Sailors remain unbeaten in an opening league match since the club’s launch in 2020, and they have not lost a league or cup meeting with Hougang since March 2021.
