Godot Theatre Company returns to Esplanade with ART from 18 to 20 September

Taiwan’s Godot Theatre Company will stage Yasmina Reza’s ART at Esplanade Theatre from 18 to 20 September 2026, three years after the company’s Huayi 2023 run of the same play, according to Esplanade’s event listing on 29 August.

Esplanade said the satirical play “exposes both the beauty and savagery of friendship.” The listing also carries the production’s billed question: “Are you who you think you are? Or are you who your friends think you are?”

What the production is billed as

Esplanade’s synopsis says one man buys a piece of modern art, a friend objects, and a third tries to keep the peace, putting a long friendship under strain. The arts centre attributes the play to French playwright Yasmina Reza and describes it as her best-known work after awards in London and New York.

Performances are listed in Mandarin with English surtitles. The billed running time is 2 hours 15 minutes, with no intermission. Admission is from age 6. Assistive listening is listed. Door time is not published on the event page.

Cast and creative team

Godot Theatre Company is listed as a Taiwan company. Esplanade names Artistic Director Liang Chi-Ming as director, with Pu Hsueh-Liang, Chu Chung Heng and Tseng Kuo Chen in the cast.

The 2026 Singapore date is a return to Esplanade Theatre, not a new title. The company last presented ART at Huayi, Chinese Festival of Arts, in 2023, Esplanade said.
