Two of Singapore’s most celebrated Indian dining destinations are marking July 2026 with a pair of distinctive events — and at the heart of both is Chef Jolly (Surjan Singh), one of India’s best-known chefs and a former MasterChef India judge.

GupShup Hosts Singapore’s Ultimate Pani Poori Face-Off (25 July)
On Saturday, 25 July 2026, GupShup invites the public to compete in Singapore’s most spirited food challenge: who can eat the most pani poori in just two minutes? Inspired by the viral social media trend, the Singapore’s Ultimate Pani Poori Face-Off will run in hourly heats from 12pm to 6pm — with a live leaderboard, bragging rights, and very real prizes up for grabs.
Entry is S$15. The top eater walks away with a staycation at The Serangoon House. Chef Jolly will be hosting the event throughout the day — interacting with guests, keeping the energy high, and crowning the Ultimate Pani Poori Popper.

SHIKAR Celebrates Its Fifth Year with a Signature Tasting Menu
Just around the corner at SHIKAR, the milestone is being marked with a limited-time Signature Tasting Menu available from 17 July to 14 August 2026. The six-course journey moves through India’s diverse regional cuisines, with highlights that include:
- Wagyu Short Rib Beef Biryani
- Maine Lobster with coconut and lime leaf curry
- Charcoal Roasted New Zealand Maimoa Lamb Chops
On 19 July, SHIKAR will also host a special anniversary Sunday Brunch with expanded live chaat and dessert stations — a celebration in the truest sense.

Chef Jolly in the House
Chef Jolly will be present at SHIKAR throughout his Singapore visit from 17 to 25 July, personally presenting selected dishes tableside. His residency adds an especially personal touch to what is already a landmark anniversary for the restaurant.
