Grab and WeRide have launched Ai.R, an autonomous public ride service in Punggol, and it is one of the clearer real-world transport-tech trials Singapore readers can actually register to experience.
Grab says the service uses WeRide’s GXR and Robobus autonomous vehicle models and had completed more than 30,000km of autonomous mileage before the public launch.

What The Trial Covers
The public can register to experience the AV service for free for a limited period till mid-2026. Grab also says the fleet had served more than 1,000 early riders before public operations began.
The useful angle is not only novelty. The service also introduces roles such as Safety Operator and Remote Operator, which shows how autonomous mobility may change transport jobs rather than simply remove drivers overnight.
Who Should Try It
Punggol residents, transport watchers and tech-curious families will get the most from the trial. Treat it as an early public-service experience, not a normal private-hire replacement yet.
