National Gallery Singapore is set to transform its spaces into a landscape of textures, sounds and colour with When Art Meets Nature: Reimagining Nature Through Art and Play, a new immersive presentation opening on 30 April 2026. Running until 1 November 2026, this free exhibition invites children and families to discover the natural world through multi-sensory experiences.
Co-curated by the Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts and National Gallery Singapore, the presentation brings two works from the exhibition’s first showing in 2025 at the Taoyuan Children’s Art Center in Taiwan to Singapore, offering local audiences a rare opportunity to encounter them up close.
Two Nature-Inspired Installations
Peace Forest by Soh Ee Shaun
Singaporean artist Soh Ee Shaun reimagines an immersive forest ecosystem populated with soft sculptures of endangered animals and lush botanical forms. Inspired by the artist’s encounters with nature during walks near his home — where he spotted birds, insects and even a flying lemur resting on a mango tree — Peace Forest offers families a restorative space for open-ended play, observation and discovery.

Where the River Runs by Yenting Hsu
Taiwanese artist Yenting Hsu draws visitors into a sound-led experience shaped by the indigenous stories and traditions of communities living along Taiwan’s Dahan River. Using sound as her primary medium, Hsu explores the boundaries between documentary and fiction, narrative and imagination. In this work, waterways become vessels of cultural memory, ecological knowledge and coexistence.

A Celebration of Cross-Cultural Artistic Dialogue
Bringing together cross-cultural artistic perspectives rooted in ecological thinking, When Art Meets Nature fosters environmental awareness and reflects National Gallery Singapore’s ongoing commitment to regional artistic dialogue and lifelong engagement with art.
